Solar Observer Rodger Kennedy from the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project (New Mexico Chapter) will meet with us to better understand solar observation for the upcoming year of the eclipse. www.timmytelescope.com

Greg Kennedy of NASTAR will be our guest presenter.  Mr. Kennedy will share some achievements and accomplishments made in the private space exploration.  NASTAR is local just outside Philadelphia in Southampton PA.  Their summer program is open for student enrollment!

Since Eastern University purchased and subsequently recently upgraded the Spitz SciDome for it's Julia Fowler Planetarium, Dr. Bradstreet has been developing new lessons and programs to take full advantage of the SciDome features and capabilities.  "Astronomy education remains an exciting and sorely neglected discipline in our schools.  I envision that digital planetariums, when used creatively and effectively, can revolutionize and revitalize the astronomy education community and stimulate people to look at planetariums in an entirely new way."

In 1995 one could only imagine a web-site where visitors learn what they need by hyperlinked information allowing a totally independent, individualized course of study!  Students in Philadelphia science classrooms discovered truly individualized education as Dr. Nemiroff sparked our interest with pictures of the cosmos!

Dr. Robert Nemiroff will join us for a return engagement to address members, guests and the general public. This special event is open to all who are interested, students are encouraged to attend.  Dr. Nemiroff will review the past year of astronomical highlights.

"SuperNova"  & "Visualizing the X-Ray Universe"
Meeting free and open to the public, students encouraged to attend. No membership required to attend. Memberships still available for the 2015-16 academic year.

This meeting featured Eric Briggs from Spitz Incorporated.   Eric has recently discovered another (yes another) super nova!  How he does it, and what is happening to these important discoveries.

Joe DePasquale (Chandra Observatory) will also present "Visualizing the X-ray Universe"  Currently in it's 16th year of operations, the Chandra X-ray Observatory, one of NASA's greatest, has transformed our understanding of the cosmos from imagining the hot gas around black holes to providing direct evidence for the existence of dark matter.

Ever in search of dark skies we have found a photographer / author that celebrates the beauty of the darkest of skies.  John Ashley is widely known across the North West and has artwork available in may fine art shops. 

John has a biology degree from University of Montana and became an award winning photo-journalist at newspapers in Florida and Montana.  He worked for many years in the National Park Service and now combines his passion for photography and conservation in the form of Fine Art Photography.

We are fortunate to open this year with John as he shares his view under the nations darkest skies, over our nations beloved jewel: Glacier National Park.

This PAST Labor Day Weekend (September 4,5,6) to the top of the
Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming.  

Vice-President Ted Williams hosted the first annual star party at the Wyoming High Country Lodge  .  Wyoming High Country Lodge is the closest you can stay to Medicine Wheel.  Details Here.  (Lodge Rooms, Cabins and Tent Sites available.)  We conducted an Astronomy themed weekend for Lodge guests.
